Nepal Country Assistance Plan

The Country Assistance Plan (CAP), prepared annually, provides a 3-year program for ADB assistance.

ADB's 2001-2003 lending program:

  • 11 projects totalling $270 million for an average of about $90 million per year.
  • Core poverty and poverty intervention projects constitute 86% by number.

Projects are designed to:

  • Reduce poverty
  • Improve economic growth
  • Increase human development
  • Address key governance issues in the public and private sector

Actual resource allocation will depend on:

  • Country and sector maintenance
  • Progress in implementing policy and institutional reforms
  • Absorptive capacity
  • Debt repayment capacity

CAP Overview

To ensure that ADB investment is commensurate with the necessary policy and institutional environment of the country to generate and sustain desired development impact.
