IND: National Highway Sector II Project
Summary Initial Environmental Examination Report and Environmental Assessment and Review Framework

The National Highway Sector II Project in India involves upgrading of about 600–700 kilometers (km) of selected national highways (NHs), particularly the North-South Corridor along NH26 and NH7. The Jhansi-Lakhnadon road (400 km) will be implemented in the first phase. Under the sector loan modality, the Sagar-Rajmarg Chouraha section (98 km) has been selected as a sample project road as it represents typical technical, environmental, and social conditions along the Project roads.

The summary IEE [ PDF ] summarizes the findings of the IEE including that carried out from February to May 2004 on the Sagar-Rajmarg Chouraha sample subproject.

The environmental assessment and review framework [ PDF ] describes the procedure for environmental assessment of subprojects, and the responsibilities of the National Highway Authority of India, and ADB.
