Background
The Asian Development Bank and the South Pacific Applied Geoscience Commission joined forces to organize a high-level regional consultation for the Pacific water sector in preparation for the 3rd World Water Forum.
The consultation is co-sponsored by the following agencies
Objectives
The workshop will help small island country practitioners and regional and international organizations strengthen their policies, institutional arrangements and projects by
- enhancing public awareness of the need for better water and wastewater management
- exchanging views and experiences
- developing a shared understanding about policies, institutional frameworks and approaches to sustainable sector development

The workshop will be structured around six thematic areas

- Institutional Arrangements
- Financing
Target Participants
Participation is by invitation only
- Representatives from development institutions such as Pacific Water Association, Global Water Partnership, Water Supply & Sanitation Collaborative Council, Netherlands International Development Agency, etc
- Representatives from Pacific DMCs, especially from the water sector
