ADB HQ, Manila, Philippines: 28 May 2002
The meeting was held on 28 May 2002. Learn more about the meeting.
The Water and Poverty Initiative (WPI) was formed in February 2002 in preparation for the 3rd World Water Forum (WWF).
During its initial planning meeting in February 2002, the WPI organizers agreed to organize a steering group that will guide the Initiative forward to the 3rd WWF. The steering group will help to link the WPI to the other themes and regional activities for 3rd WWF, mobilize additional resources as needed, and help to ensure the legitimacy of the recommendations resulting from the Initiative.
- Review the progress of WPI's activities, including the preparation of case studies, the organization of the regional consultation workshop in Dhaka on 22-26 September 2002, and preparations for the presentations at the 3rd WWF in Kyoto
- Chart future activities for the WPI, e.g. role in the Water Development Partners Panel, establishment of interregional funding facility, etc.
