The Network of Asian River Basin Organizations (NARBO) held its 2nd General Meeting to review the implementation of the organization's Action Plan for 2004-2005 and to consolidate ideas for upcoming activities for 2006-2007.
NARBO was established to share knowledge and build capacity for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in river basins throughout Asia and to strengthen river basin organizations' (RBOs) capacity and effectiveness in promoting IWRM and improving water governance.
The Network was officially launched on 20 November 2003 at the 1st South East Asian Water Forum in Chiang Mai, Thailand. NARBO's constitutional body was formed, and the Charter ratified, during the 1st General Meeting in Indonesia on 24-26 February 2004. To date, NARBO has 43 registered member organizations.

The 2nd NARBO General Meeting aimed to:
- Review the implementation of the NARBO Action Plan for 2004-2005
- Revisit the NARBO Charter, elect the NARBO Constitutional Body for 2006-2007, and welcome new member organizations
- Discuss and approve the NARBO Action Plan for 2006-2007
- Introduce and discuss a new pragmatic program to improve integrated river basin management

As part of the meeting, four workshop sessions on IWRM focused on the following themes:
- Water Quality
- Flood Management
- Water Financing
- Performance Benchmarking
Participants from NARBO member organizations were required to submit a paper on at least one of the first three themes. Four papers on water quality, flood management and water financing were selected for presentation in the workshop sessions. Deadline of submission of papers was on 31 January 2006. Authors of selected papers were informed by email and posted on the NARBO website.

Representatives from each NARBO member organization attended the meeting. Representatives from organizations interested in joining NARBO and observers from donor agencies and other water-related networks also participated.
