Description

The transport sector assessment of Georgia is a working document that helps inform the development of country partnership strategy. It highlights the development issues, needs, and strategic assistance priorities of the transport sector in the country. It also serves as a basis for further dialogue on how ADB and the government can work together to tackle the challenges of managing transport sector development in Georgia in the coming years.

The Strategy

ADB’s forward strategy for the sector will be to continue supporting Georgia’s efforts to develop an efficient, sustainable transport system in line with its vision of making the nation an international gateway and to promote inclusive growth. To this end, ADB plans to finance improvements to international and secondary roads that can bring benefits to the population and businesses of Georgia.

ADB will coordinate with other development partners to speed up project delivery and maximize impact. Further, to ensure inclusive growth, ADB plans to assist in linking the international roads to local regional centers through selected secondary road improvements.
