Objectives

Overall Objective

To reduce urban poverty in Phnom Penh

Project Purpose

To establish sustainable community-based mechanisms that improve the living and working conditions and environmental hygiene in low-income neighborhoods.

Expected Output

  • Improve community-based infrastructure and sanitation programs and services through self-help and participatory processes;
  • Change public attitude and increase public appreciation for environmental hygiene;
  • Generate income and employment opportunities through community-based solid waste management and processing, and;
  • Facilitate policy dialogues between government, NGOs and communities on the importance of collaboration and partnerships in development.

Main Project Components and Activities

The Project will support four major components:

  • community-based infrastructure improvement;
  • public awareness campaign on environmental hygiene;
  • community-based solid waste management and income generation; and
  • policy advocacy and dissemination.
