Ministry of Health and its provincial departments
- Up to 2 NGOs and community-based organizations per district will be contracted
- The Tehsil (subdistrict) hospital of Gambat (Sindh) for the hospital-based referral system
- Independent research institute for the poverty impact assessment, under the guidance of the Poverty Monitoring Cell of the Ministry of Finance
- Independent domestic research institute for the health-monitoring component
The JFPR project will target 6 districts, of which 3 are in Sindh (Badin, Shikapur, and Jacobabad), 2 in Balochistan (Panjgur and Khuzdar) and 1 in North-West Frontier Province.
Overall Objective
Pilot a sustainable approach for reducing causes of poverty and illnesses among marginalized women and children through demand-based strategies.
Project Purpose
- Enhance access of poor people, particularly women, to health services through bottom-up referral systems with the poor.
- Improve nutritional status of marginalized women and children.
Use the experience of the pilot-project for designing future projects involving community-based strategies to improving health and nutrition status of poor women and children which contribute to poverty reduction.
