Coordinating Body/ Steering Committee/ Project Advisory Board

A steering committee will oversee Project implementation and will comprise representatives from the Presidential Commission on Flagship Programs and Projects, implementing NGO, people's organization, local government unit, and national agencies directly involved in the Project. These include the Department of Education, Culture, and Sports; Department of Environment and Natural Resources; Department of Health; Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council; and Technology Skills Development Authority.

Scope

The Project will target 525 families, 425 of which will be from the Golden Shower Homeowners' Association, Inc. (GSHAI), and 100 are victims of the garbage-slide tragedy in Payatas, Quezon City.

The Project will be implemented over two years.

Objectives

Overall Objective

Improve quality of life and living conditions of poor urban communities.

Project Purpose

Assist an urban poor community in Payatas in developing and implementing an integrated on-site development model

Expected Output

Economic: Increase in income; Creation of small enterprises

Land and Housing: Security of land tenure for the beneficiaries; Improved housing and services

Education: Increased access to informal and formal education

Health & Environment: Decrease in morbidity diseases, mortality rates; Reduced waste community pollution

Social: Social cohesion and participation of GSHAI in the Payatas development

Main Project Components and Activities

The Project has five components:

  • revolving fund for bridge financing
  • site development and housing construction improvement fund
  • livelihood and microfinance program fund
  • community-based health insurance
  • education, training on waste management, and people-to-people exchanges
