Pakistan's North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) had a population of $17.5 million, of which more than 80% lived in rural areas. Of the population, 70% were illiterate (88% for women), 62% lacked access to safe drinking water, and 50% had no access to sanitation. 

This study validates the completion report’s assessment of the project, which aimed to sustain and improve agricultural practices through better natural resources management, enhance community infrastructure, and improve rural livelihood opportunities and alternatives. IED overall assessment: Successful
