Project Summary

The TA will assist the Government to design an investment project that is suitable for external financing in establishing participatory water management system in very large flood control, drainage, and irrigation (FCDI) schemes. It builds on lessons from an earlier ADB-assisted Command Area Development Project BAN-Loan 1399.

The TA will have two phases. The first phase is a pre-feasibility study to select the project schemes which will involve, among others, preparation of the selection criteria for the prefeasibility study, and to review and recommend institutional reforms of the Bangladesh Water Development Board for sustainable O&M. The second phase is a feasibility study of the selected FCDI schemes to prepare an investment proposal to implement participatory water management principles.
