Project Summary

The TA will assist in the establishment and initial activities of the Low-Income Support Unit (LICSU) within the Water Utility Operator (WUO) that will facilitate the delivery of water services to the poor in support of the Melamchi Water Services Sector Project (MWSP-Loan 1820) and the Kathmandu Valley Water Services Sector Development Program (KVWSSDP-Loan 2058 and 2059).

Outputs and key activities of the TA will include:

  • Preparation of the community participation strategy and piloting community management of tapstands;
  • Preparation of manuals in consultation with stakeholders for the pro-poor advisory services of LICSU;
  • Monitoring and evaluation of the pilot tapstand program and pro-poor advisory services will be carried out and methods will be identified for LCSU/WUO to scale up the tapstand program;
  • Development of institutionally and financially sustainable long-term operational strategy for pro-poor service delivery and LICSU
