This report was prepared for the G8 Kyushu-Okinawa Summit Meeting 2000 by a consortium of multilateral finance organizations including African Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Inter-American Development Bank, International Monetary Fund, and World Bank.

The report focuses on three main topics

• global poverty conditions and trends
• regional poverty trends and
• issues and actions to fight poverty

The appendix provides updated poverty reduction forecasts.
