Steering Committee

Interministerial Committees comprising the Implementing Agencies, and chaired by the Head of the Information and Analytical Department of the Government of Uzbekistan. It will be responsible for writing and disseminating the strategy document and working papers, and overseeing implementation in the first year.

Scope

The TA will have three components:

  1. strategy planning and fomulation
  2. statistical component
  3. training and capacity building on pro-poor growth strategies and social policy for key policy makers

Objectives

Overall Objective

Reduce poverty in Uzbekistan.

Project Purpose

Help the Government prepare a comprehensive medium-term strategy for improving the living standards of the people of Uzbekistan, particularly the low-income, vulnerable, and socially excluded groups.

  • medium-term living standard strategy report (Strategy 2010)
  • technical reports and policy papers
  • website
  • quantitative and qualitative living standard indicators
  • improved labor market module in the household budget survey
  • training sessions on strategy formulation and policy analysis

Main Project Components and Activities

strategy planning and formulation: review of legislation and research studies on poverty; workshops and participatory meetings; special studies and policy papers; website development; drafting of Strategy 2010

statistical component: development of living standard indicators; household survey; design of monitoring and evaluation system

training and capacity building: training modules and specialized trainings
