Series: Special Evaluation Studies

ONGOING EVALUATION. The Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Safeguard Policy Statement (SPS), which became effective in 2010, builds upon the three previous safeguard policies on the environment, involuntary resettlement, and indigenous peoples, and brings them into a consolidated policy framework. Three years after its implementation, Independent Evaluation will undertake an operational review to assess the progress on the use of country safeguard systems as well as the implementation of safeguard requirements for financial intermediary projects.

An expanded focus of the operational review will cover additional operational changes that coincided with the SPS’ adoption, and explain the adjusted scope, questions, and methodology (see Addendum).
