ONGOING EVALUATION. The Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Safeguard Policy Statement, which became effective in 2010, builds upon the three previous safeguard policies on the environment, involuntary resettlement, and indigenous peoples, and brings them into a consolidated policy framework. Three years after its implementation, Independent Evaluation will undertake an operational review (Phase 1) to assess the progress on the use of country safeguard systems as well as the implementation of safeguard requirements for financial intermediary projects.
