Professional Women's Committee - PWC

Vision Statement

Professional Women's Committee

The women of ADB envision a transparent, non-discriminatory, empathetic and modern work-cultural environment in which

  • they are respected, have equal opportunity for strategic work assignments, and are integral to the formal and informal communication networks
  • they are equitably distributed among all ranks including senior leadership positions, at resident missions and headquarters
  • clear job descriptions, titles, and fair valuation of prior experience are the basics for equal treatment in salary and promotions

PWC was formed in December 1993 at the initiative of women professional staff. All professional women are members. PWC objectives are to

  • promote ADB's internal policies that ensure a fair and equitable work environment
  • achieve more equitable representation of internationally recruited women
  • improve the working environment at ADB
  • provide networking and other support to women professionals at ADB

The PWC Board is a group of 6-8 elected women who represent the interests of its members by

  1. participating in bank-wide working groups such as the one implementing the second phase of the Gender Action Program
  2. providing a forum for women professionals to meet and discuss topical issues of importance
  3. communicating regularly and openly with the Budget, Personnel, and Management Systems Department on gender equity issues
  4. meeting annually with the President and Vice President (Finance and Administration) to discuss PWC priorities and work program
