ADB Launched Its Second Asian Environment Outlook Report

Asian Environment Outlook 2005
Updated: 25 January 2006

Making Profits, Protecting Our Planet

Corporate responsibility for environmental performance in the Asia and Pacific region is the subject of ADB's second Asian Environment Outlook (AEO). AEO 2005:
  • reports on the emerging global pressures and opportunities that are forcing the private sector in Asia and the Pacific to pursue environmentally sound strategies and thus, become a full partner in achieving sustainable development goals
  • draws attention to the need for governments and other institutions to create the appropriate enabling environment to allow firms in the region to leapfrog over outmoded policy approaches and technologies
  • aims to provide a better understanding of how governments and other stakeholders can collaborate with business to lessen the burden of regulatory control, help create new business opportunities, and achieve sustainable development.
