2. What is the role of the ADB European Representative Office?

ADB European Representative Office (ERO)īs main responsibility is to build up ADB strategic partnerships and working relations with:

  • The 17 ADB European member countries
  • Europe-based multilateral and bilateral development and financial institutions
  • the European business community
  • Non-governmental Organizations
  • Europe-based media
  • Academia
  • other interested parties in Europe

3. What is the Online Media Center (OLMC) and how can I access it?

The ADB Online Media Center is an online information tool for journalists and media.

Registered media will find major economic reports, news releases, features, photographs, reports, speeches and coverage of major conferences.

Journalists can also subscribe to Media Information Alerts. They will then receive email notification of the latest ADB informations and materials immediately after posting or as a weekly digest. Subscribers can choose from a list of subjects on which they wish to receive such notification.

4. How did ADB respond to the Tsunami disaster?

ADB responded rapidly to assistance requests from Tsunami-affected countries. As of 15 December 2006, ADB's total approved assistance and co-financed funds for tsunami-affected countries stood at US$891.24 million. Of this, $724.34 million, or 81%, is grant funding. 5. What is ADB's role in supporting Asian Regional Economic Integration?

ADB has a dedicated Office of Regional Economic Integration to assist ADB developing member countries - both individually and collectively- to harness the full benefits of regional integration and increase their resilience to future shocks.

6. Does ADB have a research and training institute?

In 1997, ADB established the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) in Tokyo. Its mission is to help build skills and knowledge related to poverty reduction and socio-economic growth in Asia-Pacific developing economies. ADBI conducts applied research, organizes policy seminars and implements capacity building and training initiatives.

8. How can I access Asian Development Outlook (ADO), Asia Economic Monitor (AEM) and other ADB economic papers?

ADB issues numerous macro- and microeconomic studies, the most prominent being the twice-yearly Asian Development Outlook (ADO). The ADO provides a comprehensive economic analysis of 43 economies in developing Asia and the Pacific.

The Asia Economic Monitor (AEM) focuses on East Asian economies and is available at the Asian Regional Information Center (ARIC) website.

11. How can I find information about a specific ADB-funded project?

You may visit the website's Projects section where information about ADB-funded projects is readily available. It contains project profiles and reports, information on technical assistance projects, and operations evaluation.

You can also do a search by keying in the project name in the project summaries database. If you do not know the name of the project, you can use the 'search a region/country' function and choose the country in which the project will be carried out.

Before submitting an expression of interest for a specific ADB-funded project, please register first online at DICON (for individual consultants) or DACON (for companies).
