Evaluation Presentation: Evaluation on Project Cost Estimates


Cost underruns and overruns can be defined as the difference in the estimate of project costs upon which loan approval is based, and the final cost incurred at project completion. In 2004, OED examined project cost estimates to determine the major causes of cost underruns and overruns, assess the contribution of each to cost variations, and recommend ways to improve the reliability of cost estimates. The findings and recommendations from that study and the feedback it attracted remain relevant.
