Gender and Institutional Support RETAsExternal Forum on Gender and Development: Phase 2 -- RETA 6104, May 2003ADB's External Forum on Gender and Development (EFG) was established in 2001 as one of the institutional innovations included in ADB's Policy on Gender and Development and includes approximately 13 experts on gender and women's rights from different ADB member countries and from a variety of disciplines and perspectives. The EFG is a mechanism to facilitate dialogue between ADB and key experts in the field of gender and development. Continuation of the EFG into a Phase 2 is a commitment made under the Interim Progress Report on the Implementation of the GAD Policy. It will also serve as a continuous support to more effectively mainstream gender issues in ADB's operations and to promote gender equity in the Asia and Pacific region. Specifically, the TA will support (i) periodic meetings of the EFG; (ii) participation of EFG members in gender training, seminars and other activities at ADB Headquarters and in developing member countries; and (iii) preparation of related background documents and reports. The next EFG meeting is scheduled on 22-24 September 2003.
