14 December 2011 -
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved the following technical assistance:
Description:
Chittagong Port handles about 92% of the country’s import-export trade and as a main seaport, its importance to Bangladesh’s economy is paramount. This technical assistance will develop an overall framework for port development; analyze forecasted trade and traffic through the port; and assess the hydraulic and hydrological situation in the Karnaphuli River to support future development plans for the port. It will also examine integrated intermodal port development on the land and marine sides of the port.
Amount: $1 million equivalent grant by the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction, administered by ADB from May 2012 to December 2014.
