Bangladesh – Pilot Project for Weather Index-Based Crop Insurance

27 March 2013 - The Asian Development Bank has approved the following project:

Description:

The project will increase the resilience of farm households against climate and natural disaster risks by piloting weather index-based crop insurance as an innovative risk adaptation tool for farmers, including small farm households, in one of the most climate-vulnerable and disaster prone countries in the world.

Amount: $2 million grant from the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction, administered by ADB. The Government of India will provide in-kind support equivalent to $420,000.
