Georgia: Senior Loan for TBC Bank to Promote Financial Sector Growth and Service Diversity
15 January 2013 -
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved the following senior loan:
Description:
The loan will help TBC, the second largest bank in Georgia, to boost its service outreach to micro, small- and medium-sized enterprises in the underserved rural regions outside of the capital Tbilisi. At present, 78% of all bank loans in the country are in Tbilisi. The loan will be supported by two technical assistance grants to improve TBC’s outreach to SME clients, and to help the National Bank of Georgia review the private commercial banks’ internal capital adequacy assessment processes in line with Basel II standards.
Amount: $50 million from ADB’s ordinary capital resources
