The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved the following technical assistance:
From December 2011 until 31 March 2013, this technical assistance (TA) will investigate and assess regional policies, constraints and opportunities related to the further development of regional trade corridors in the Greater Mekong Subregion. Three major transportation corridors in the subregion are in the advanced stage of completion; multisector investments in urban development, logistics, feeder and rural roads, multimodal transport and development of supply chains are now needed to maximize the potential for trade. The regional investment framework produced by the TA can ensure that resources devoted to GMS corridor development are grounded in sound economic and technical analysis, including cost-benefit assessment.
$1.5 million equivalent, including a $1 million grant from ADB's Technical Assistance Special Fund (TASF-IV) and a $500,000 grant by the Regional Cooperation and Integration Fund.
