Innovations For More Food With Less Water – Technical Assistance

8 December 2011 - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved the following technical assistance:

Description:

The project will help Bangladesh, India and Nepal develop and manage efficient and sustainable irrigation systems to boost crop yields and reduce water wastage. The goal is to develop technically-, financially- and environmentally-sound systems which can be replicated elsewhere. About 80% of all freshwater used in Asia goes to agriculture but irrigation efficiency averages less than 40%.

Amount: $1.4 million grant from the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction, administered by ADB. The International Water Management Institute will provide in-kind assistance equivalent to $40,000.
