Nepal – Strengthening Engineering Education Technical Assistance

13 December 2011 - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved the following technical assistance:

Description:

The number of Nepali students completing and/or passing the secondary education exam is rising fast, yet only 10% of graduates are enrolled in higher education. Female enrollment is particularly low and enrollment amongst the poorest quintile is negligible. There is a large unmet demand for engineering education. This technical assistance will identify a strategy to enhance engineering education by increasing access, offering professional development, upgrading communications connectivity and establishing campuses in the far-western and mid-western development regions. This will be accomplished through surveys, workshops, focus groups, a labor market analysis and feasibility studies on campus expansion, to be conducted between March and December 2012.

Amount: $550,000 equivalent grant from the Technical Assistance Special Fund (TASF-Others).
