People's Republic of China: Streamlining Framework for Social Assistance

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved the following technical assistance:
Description:
The technical assistance will provide the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress with recommendations for streamlining and strengthening the legal framework to ensure consistency of policies on social assistance provision, scope of protection, and enhance the level of benefits. The improved efficiency and effectiveness of social assistance, including social housing support, will lead to a 10% increase by 2020 in coverage ratio of social assistance programs targeting people living below the poverty line.
