14 December 2011 -
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved the following technical assistance:
Description:
As the only interregional mechanism between South and East Asia, the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) is one of the most important means of transforming Asia into an integrated market and production base. This technical assistance will help strengthen the BIMSTEC Secretariat, the sector committee on transport and expert groups by hosting a ministerial conference, a transport infrastructure finance meeting, and gatherings for road, railways, maritime and aviation experts, as well as building a BIMSTEC website.
Amount: $750,000 equivalent grant from the Technical Assistance Special Fund (TASF-IV).
