Viet Nam: Microfinance Development Program

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved the following loan and technical assistance grant:
Description:
Viet Nam has made remarkable progress in reaching the Millennium Development Goals, yet one of the major challenges is to develop a vibrant microfinance market responsive to the needs of the country’s rural poor. This program will support the development of market-oriented microfinance by focusing on policy and regulatory reforms; supervisory capacity building; operation and institutional development; and financial infrastructure development.
Amount: $40 million program loan from the Asian Development Fund. A $500,000 technical assistance from the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction will also be administered by ADB.
