11th Meeting of the External Forum on Gender and Development

Post-event statement

ADB hosted the the External Forum on Gender (EFG) meeting which is convened periodically to facilitate dialogue between ADB and external experts on gender and development issues and initiatives in the Asia Pacific region. The EFG members consists of representatives of governments, academia, NGOs, civil society and development partners.  The 11th Session on the EFG included discussions of ADB's performance on meeting corporate gender targets, implementation of the Gender Plan of Action 2008-2010, and other ADB gender-related initiatives and activities under implementation in the various sub-regions.  

The dialogue and exchange of information also included presentations by select EFG members (i) Maheen Sultan, Research Coordinator, BRAC University: Research on Pathways for Women’s Empowerment in Bangladesh, (ii) Samvada Kheng, Secretary of State, Cambodia Ministry of Women’s Affairs: Cambodia's Gender Equality Initiatives, and (iii) Yumiko Tamura, Senior Gender Advisor, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA): JICA's Gender Architecture and Initiatives.

Background

ADB's External Forum on Gender and Development (EFG) meets annually to discuss ADB's gender mainstreaming efforts and results to date. EFG members met with ADB staff on government, NGO and donor initiatives to advance gender equity in the region.
