ADB Business Opportunities Fair
ADB's Business Opportunities Fair is a one-stop forum for consultants, contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers looking to provide goods and services for ADB projects. It has proven to be an excellent opportunity to network not only with peers in the industry, but also with ADB sector specialists in agriculture and natural resources, energy, public management and finance, transport and ICT, and health and education.
In 2009, ADB's total assistance amounted to $16.1 billion. Loans worth $13.2 billion were approved for 93 projects. Grants of $1.1 billion financed 64 projects.
Thanks to our fifth general capital increase in 2009, ADB's capital has tripled to about $166 billion.
Our target for 2012 is that 80% of annual approved assistance will support operations in infrastructure, environment, education, finance sector development, and regional cooperation and integration.
In a post-event survey of the first BO Fair in 2009, half of the respondents (50%) rated the BO Fair as "Good", while 47% rated it as "Excellent". This is what a few participants had to say:
"A valuable chance to understand the operations of ADB and to get access to plentiful information useful for our business. I'm quite honored and grateful for this opportunity."
"Overall, the Fair is a welcome development as it allows us to better appreciate ADB's plans, processes, and objectives."
"This event is really productive. It's the best shortcut for a consulting firm to get general picture of ADB's strategy in the next few years. Thanks for your joint efforts on the fair preparation and implementation."
