ADB Celebrates Gender Month 2013

Purpose/Background
ADB joins the international community in celebrating the International Women’s Day 2013 globally with a series of gender-related activities beginning on 4 March and held throughout the month of March. This is an annual event at ADB.
The theme of this year's annual International Women's Day Breakfast Event is "Voice and Empowerment in the Asia and Pacific Region". See program.
Objectives
These month-long activities will:
- promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the work culture and environment;
- provide an understanding of ADB’s institutional commitment to gender mainstreaming; and
- demonstrate the benefits of gender mainstreaming for greater operational effectiveness and to advance the ADB Gender and Development Policy.
Target Participants
Open to all ADB staff.
