Background
The transport sector needs to Change Course in order to ensure sustainable growth in the Asia Pacific region. It is now clear that a business as usual scenario is unsustainable and the need to change and move along a different growth pathway is driven by a range of economic, social and environmental challenges, including climate change, congestion, and the provision of basic mobility.
Ministers, key decision makers from industry, top researchers and representatives of civil society from more than 30 countries will come together at the 2010 ADB Transport Forum in Manila, Philippines where they will focus on Changing Course for the transport sector.
The ADB Transport Forum will be held on 25-27 May 2010, focusing on Changing Course in Transport.
Objective
The three day ADB Transport Forum, featuring the world's leading transport experts, will provide a unique forum for discussing and debating some of the most crucial issues facing transport in Asia. The ADB Transport Forum includes high-level panel discussions, as well as activity clinics, and a poster presentation of key ADB transport projects in Asia and the Pacific. It will be attended by over 300 senior-level representatives from across the region.

The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) was founded in 1985 to promote environmentally sustainable and socially equitable transportation worldwide. The EMBARQ global network catalyzes environmentally and financially sustainable transport solutions to improve quality of life in cities.
Since 2002, the network has grown to include five Centers for Sustainable Transport, located in Mexico, Brazil, India, Turkey and the Andean Region, that work together with local transport authorities to reduce pollution, improve public health, and create safe, accessible and attractive urban public spaces.
