ADB, in partnership with United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has been monitoring progress on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) for the Asia and the Pacific region and is now engaging with key stakeholders to discuss the post 2015 development agenda.
To this purpose, the partners undertook a series of regional and sub-regional workshops and consultations to identify regional priorities and approaches to mainstream sustainable development at all levels through the integration of economic, social and environmental aspects. A review of the MDG achievements and assessment of the sub-regional challenges for the remaining period to 2015 will be included in the partnership's MDG report for 2013. The report will also feature integrated views and perspectives of developing countries, civil society and other stakeholders on the post 2015 development agenda.
The meeting aims to solicit feedback and engage with CSOs in a discussion on the preliminary findings of the consultation process supported by ADB to develop the regional perspectives on the post 2015 development agenda. The meeting also intends to discuss ways to strengthen the collaboration between ADB and CSOs on the MDGs and beyond in Asia and the Pacific.
Discussion highlights and key messages will be incorporated in the Report, which will also serve as a background document for the task team which informs the UN High Level Panel of Eminent Persons on the post 2015 development agenda.
