Asian Higher Education Summit

Background

The Summit was jointly organized by the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and ADB at the initiative of the ADB with the vision of capacity building. It was designed for exchange and sharing of visions, insights, experiences, and challenges among leaders in higher education systems and institutions in Asia. It was organized at the point when most Asian nations are actively developing their higher education systems.

The Summit took place during a Summer Institute on Higher Education organized by HKU. Summer Institute participants were part of the audience of the Higher Education Summit's high level discussions on higher education systems and institutions in Asia.

Target participants

Participation was by invitation only.

The Summit gathered 15-20 leaders of higher education in Asia, whereas the Summer Institute participants, who served as audience, consist of 35-40 aspiring leaders of higher education in the region.
