Food Security in Times of Climate Change and Price Volatility

Event | 20 September 2012 Georgetown University, Mortara Center, 3600 N St. NW, Washington, DC/2:00 PM to 4:00 PM EDT

Asia is home to 3.3 billion people and 1.8 billion of the world's poor. Despite rapid economic growth in recent decades, the region remains vulnerable to global shocks. ADB estimates that a 10 percent increase in domestic food prices in Asia could lead to a 2 percentage point increase in poverty incidence, equivalent to pushing 64 million into poverty. The seminar will discuss the web of key challenges and policy issues related to food security and poverty in Asia.
