Background

2000 delegates from the development community will meet in Busan, Republic of Korea from 29 November - 1 December 2011 to review the global progress in improving the impact and effectiveness of aid and make commitments that set a new agenda for development until 2015 and beyond.

Asian Development Bank (ADB) is playing a key role to ensure the Asia and Pacific experiences and perspectives are a part of the key HLF-4 agenda and outcomes. It is also supporting participation of developing countries at the HLF-4.

Objectives

At the end of the workshop, participants will have:

• Reviewed the Paris Declaration and the Accra Agenda for Action and determined whether the commitments and targets for 2010 have been achieved or not and why
• Developed an aid quality framework for implementation by 2015
• Framed actions around aid quality in the broader context of development effectiveness, including new global challenges and partnerships

Expected outputs

Agree on a Busan Outcome Document to further enhance global efforts to make aid more effective in reducing poverty and achieving the Millennium Goals
