Korea–ADB Conference on Knowledge Sharing and Development Effectiveness in the Asia and Pacific Region

Purpose

The conference will highlight the experiences and lessons learned in knowledge sharing activities in the Asia and Pacific region by the Government of Korea, ADB, and other development institutions.

Objectives

At the end of the workshop, participants will have:

  • increased awareness in developing member countries (DMCs) and among their development partners on the role of knowledge sharing and its impact on development effectiveness
  • greater understanding in ADB and among bilateral and multilateral development partners of the demand-driven side of DMCs and the need to improve the content and delivery of knowledge sharing programs for greater development effectiveness
  • enhanced understanding of the needs of DMCs for knowledge products and services, in terms of content and modality.

Expected outputs

  • presentations on the role and functions of knowledge sharing as tool to enhance development effectiveness
  • presentations on country experiences and case studies involving knowledge sharing activities
  • real time videoconferencing and on-demand videos of presentations and edited summaries on ADB’s website and YouTube Channel

Target participants

Participation is by invitation to key players in knowledge sharing and development from Korea, ADB, and ADB’s member countries, as well as leading scholars and experts from academia and international organizations. The conference’s program will be geared towards senior-level government officials involved, or able to play a leading role in knowledge sharing from ADB’s DMCs, as well as international organizations involved in knowledge sharing activities.

To maximize outreach, the conference will also be made available through interactive, real-time videoconferencing, using the ADB’s video conference network in collaboration with the World Bank’s Global Development Learning Network.
