Midterm Workshop on Updating and Improving the Social Protection Index
Background
The ADB, in collaboration with OECD/Korea Policy Center and ILO, is presently implementing a regional technical assistance project to update and improve the Social Protection Index. The midterm workshop will serve as a venue to discuss (i) the results of social protection country studies; (ii) the initial results of the computed Social Protection Index and launch of the social protection database; and (iii) the status of incorporating the social protection module in the household surveys in three selected countries.
Objectives
At the end of the workshop, participants will have:
- discussed/analyzed the results of social protection country studies
- been provided with the initial results of the Social Protection Index based on the new methodology
- been oriented with the design and use of the social protection database hosted by ADB's SDBS
- been provided with the results of initial analysis on the integration of the Social Protection module in the Household Surveys in three selected countries
Expected outputs
- Revised Social Protection Index and analyses of the social protection country studies
- Follow-up Actions on the integration of the Social Protection Module in the HIES
- Workshop Documentation

- Participation is by invitation only

There will be 40 participants from national government agencies (ADB's DMCs), International Labour Organization (ILO), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)/Korea Policy Center, and the ADB.
