Background

Ozwater'10 is the Australia Water Association's 24th National Conference and Exhibition since the inaugural convention held in 1964. The 2010 event to be held on 8-10 March, with the theme "Achieving Water Security," marks the beginning of the annual conference series.

ADB and the Australia Water Association are co-organizing a session to introduce Australian water utilities to ADB's Water Operators Partnerships Program, which offer for these utilities unique staff development opportunities, profile raising, and achievement of corporate social responsibility goals through water utility partnerships. The session will cover how these partnerships work, how utilities can be involved, and the first hand experience from Australian utilities that have participated in them.

Objectives

To provide the opportunity for Australian water utilities to join the Water Operators Partnerships Program with the aim of improving the performance of utilities in developing member countries and contributing to the improvement of safe water supply and sanitation in the Asia-Pacific region.
