Description

At the Asian Development Fund replenishment meetings in 2011 and 2012, donors emphasized the importance of understanding the political economy of developing member countries in our development operations in the region. The ADB Board of Directors has also encouraged political economy analysis to be made an integral part of assessments of the country and sector situation in the development of new programs, projects, and partnership strategies. ADB has already developed the relevant guidance note for staff’s consideration, but what is missing in the guidance note is a ‘how-to” tool to guide staff members in carrying out the political economy analysis. The Governance Community of Practice will prepare materials and toolkits for this purpose.

Objectives

This workshop will help collective development of the political economy analysis toolkit. This workshop aims to ensure not only that expert input is incorporated in the exercise but also that relevant ADB staff members themselves contribute to preparing the toolkit on political economy analysis.
