Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Days 2010

Background

Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Days is an annual global meeting for public sector PPP practitioners. It provides a forum for those charged with developing and implementing PPP programs to share global experiences on innovations in PPP policy. The focus of PPP Days 2010 is on innovative PPP models and key policy issues.

PPP Days 2010 will focus on taking a stock of how the PPP approach fared in the last 18 months, discuss some government interventions and share some innovative PPP models. The three-day conference will bring together PPP practitioners worldwide to analyze and explore how the public sector can engage most effectively in PPPs to deliver crucial services.

Objectives

At the end of the workshop, participants will have:

  • analyzed the global themes that affect PPPs
  • identified the situational/developmental challenges from implementing PPPs
  • shared knowledge and experiences regarding priority policy issued that constrain developing countries worldwide in accelerating PPP programs

9:00-12:00 PPPs in Asia: The story so far - The private sector perspective
This half-day event is open to all interested, particularly representatives from the private sector, to ensure that the second "P" in "PPPs" is fully engaged in the discussions. Participants will gain an understanding of the issues surrounding successful delivery of PPPs from the developer, legal, and financiers' perspectives from various markets in the region and worldwide.

Organizer

The event is being organized by ADB and the World Bank Institute, with ADB Institute, Multilateral Investment Fund (Inter-American Development Bank), International Finance Corporation, Development Academy of the Philippines, and the Government of the Philippines through the Department of Finance.

Participants

PPP practitioners from the public sector will be invited, as well as experts with experience in the design, financing, and implementation of PPPs.
