Regional Workshop on Community-Driven Development and Institutional Sustainability in Asia

Purpose

The workshop seeks to (i) provide an opportunity for sharing lessons on designing and implementing community-driven development (CDD) projects with a specific focus on institutional impacts; and (ii) serve as a forum for establishing a network of practitioners working on CDD issues.

Objectives

At the end of the Conference, participants will have:

  1. learned (a) the findings of the CDD Assessments in Indonesia, Philippines, and the People's Republic of China; (b) the Saemaul Undung experience in the Republic of Korea; and, (c) the CDD experiences of selected DMCs under ADB-supported projects;
  2. discussed critical issues and factors that contribute to improved service delivery and institutional sustainability in local communities;
  3. identified lessons for informing design and implementation of CDD projects taking into account country contexts;
  4. identified possible next steps for promoting knowledge sharing on CDD in the region.

Target participants

Some 60 participants from:

  1. Relevant government agencies in Indonesia, Philippines, People's Republic of China, Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Mongolia;
  2. Development partners;
  3. NGOs and academe/research organizations involved in CDD projects or CDD studies;
  4. ADB staff and consultants
