WTO Ministers at their last gathering in December 2011 declared that the Doha Round was at an impasse after a decade of intensive negotiations among over 150 countries. During the same period, many countries, especially in Asia, have been busy negotiating bilateral or regional free trade agreements. At the same time, the fear of rising protectionism remains while the world economy continues to face an uncertain outlook.
