Seminar: Hon Cheung - Asian Local Currency Bond Markets and the Asian Bond Fund Initiatives
At the height of the 1997-98 Asian financial crisis, policymakers realized the need to develop local currency bond markets to deal with double mismatch (maturity and currency mismatches) that contributed significantly to the crisis. The objective of this seminar is to take stock of the region's efforts to develop local currency bond markets and discuss ways how to deepen further such markets.
