Social Dimensions of Climate Change
Purpose
The regional workshop will bring together participants from different regions in Asia and the Pacific focusing on the social dimensions of climate change.
Objectives
At the end of the workshop, participants will have increased awareness on the social dimensions of climate change particularly on:
- investment in climate adaptation
- energy and social dimensions
- new opportunities: creation of green jobs, and
- future pathways: alternatives to the existing paradigm for Asia.
Expected outputs
A study report that will contribute to the Asia-Pacific Regional Preparatory Meeting for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) in Seoul on 19-20 October 2011 and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties 17 (UNFCCC COP 17) in Durban, South Africa on 28 November – 09 December 2011.
Target stakeholders
Participation is by invitation only to Government officials, particularly from ministries of finance and planning, bilateral development partners and NGOs.
