Background

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) Private Sector Operations Department is organizing a one-day training seminar on Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS) for Private Sector Financial Intermediaries on 20 April, 2012 in Manila, Philippines.

Objectives

The conference will feature prominent representatives from both the public and private sectors discussing the following topics:

• Overview of the ADB Safeguards Policy
• ADB guidelines on ESMS for banks and funds
• Equator principles
• Managing environmental and social risks for financial institutions
• Sharing of experiences on the implementation of ESMS by FIs
• The social protection dimension and CSR for FIs
