WaterLinks Forum 2014 will provide a platform to learn about and debate the most recent developments in solving critical urban water and wastewater efficiency problems.
The forum will focus on key issues of growing urban water insecurity in Asia and the Pacific and the need to create new water, and promote efficiencies amidst the challenge of climate change.
Asia's water future is singularly linked to the emergence of an efficiency paradigm. WaterLinks Forum 2014 will move the discussion on WOPs to a higher level where participants will engage with efficiency issues through the lens of water scarcity, climate change, and disaster preparedness. Utilities that are prepared to adopt innovative models will be the biggest gainers.
ADB supports WaterLinks through the Water Operators Partnerships (WOPs) Program. WaterLinks is a regional WOPs network that stimulates efficiency improvements in urban water and sanitation services throughout the Asia-Pacific region, strengthens capacities, promotes the sharing of new and emerging knowledge, and facilitates professional networking. The regional network was established in 2008 by ADB, the International Water Association (IWA), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The forum will feature:
- Technical presentations on water loss reduction, wastewater management and reuse, water quality monitoring and management and climate change resilience. Speakers include WOP recipients and mentors as well as renowned specialists in the field of: water loss reduction, wastewater management and reuse, water quality management, climate change resilience,
- A partnership matchmaking and networking session that aims to initiate new partnerships and identify a pipeline of priority and possible water utility twinning partnerships (pre-registration needed for profiling and assessment)
- An innovation and knowledge fair, demonstrating innovative and applied services and products that enhance all aspects of urban water services management and utilization.
- Facilitated on-site workshops by Manila Water Company and Maynilad Water Services, Inc. on practical applications in septage management and non-revenue water management, respectively.
Water and sanitation operators and experts, representatives from water and sanitation associations, international foundations, private corporate entities with substantial interests in water and sanitation, donors, and development partners are invited.
The Forum is being organized by WaterLinks with support from partners ADB, IWA, and USAID, the Global Water Operators' Partnerships Alliance, in collaboration with the Philippine Association of Water Districts, UN Habitat, Tirta Dharma, and Perpamsi.Stay up to date Subscribe to our newsletter and get the latest issues, news, events, jobs and data in your e-mail inbox.
