Title: Flourishing Flower Trade

Description: Trade between the People's Republic of China and Thailand thrives with the presence of Greater Mekong Subregion Route 3 as Chinese flower vendors export their goods to Thailand and to other neighboring countries.

VO: Seven days a week at the Kunming International Flower Auction Center, two and a half million flowers are sold to discerning wholesale buyers. Kunming has long been considered the flower center of the PRC and it’s the biggest flower exporter in Asia. With the new road  making deliveries and distribution faster and more efficient than ever, markets are opening up for the wholesalers who buy here.

Jin Yuan Flower Company

Our company is located close to Hong Kong. We recently set up a branch in Yunnan so we can expand our market and come to this auction.

VO: The auction is highly competitive with finger fast electronic bidding. Most of the flowers are headed out of the PRC, often as far away as Europe and the new Route 3 means that the journey to some destinations is faster and more efficient than ever before. In neighboring, Thailand, the Kunming flowers are very popular delivering a good livelihood to florists and markets throughout the country.
